In June 2024, overall bed occupancy was 38.8 percent, up 2 percentage points from a year earlier. The occupancy of beds in 4 and 5 star accommodations is highest – 50.1 percent, followed by those with 3 stars – 33.7 percent, and with 1 and 2 stars – 21.2 percent. Total employment in June 2019 was 45.4 percent, down 2.3 percentage points compared to June 2018. The occupancy of beds in 4 and 5 star hotels was the highest – 56.8 percent, followed by 3 star accommodations – 46.2 percent, and 1 and 2 star hotels – 26.3 percent.

The number of overnight stays in June this year increased by 6 percent compared to the same month in 2023 and reached 1 million, with an increase recorded both among Bulgarian citizens – by 8.3 percent and among foreigners – by 3.8 percent. The number of Bulgarian citizens who stayed overnight was 513.1 thousand and they spent an average of 2.4 nights. Foreign citizens numbered 520.8 thousand with an average of 4.4 nights, and 76.1 percent of them stayed in 4- and 5-star accommodations.

A reference in the NSI for June 2019 shows that the number of overnight stays increased by 4 percent compared to the same month of 2018 and reached 1,028.8 thousand, with an increase of 4 percent among Bulgarian citizens. .9 percent, and for foreigners – by 3.5 percent. The number of Bulgarian citizens who spent the night in accommodation in June 2019 was 408.2 thousand and had an average of 2.4 nights. Foreign citizens numbered 620.6 thousand and spent an average of 4.9 nights, with 65.9 percent of them staying in 4- and 5-star hotels.
