Dream of the Phoenix Comeback
It is little wonder that Williams has big plans with Sainz. “Carlos knows what it takes to win races,” says team principal James Vowles confidently. “Carlos has repeatedly proven to be one of the most talented drivers on the grid, having won many races, and this underscores the upward trend we are on. Carlos brings not only experience and performance but also the unstoppable will to extract every millisecond from the team and the car; he is a perfect fit,” he praises his soon-to-be driver.
It is optimism that the British racing team can certainly use. Williams has, to put it mildly, gone through a dry spell in recent years. Currently, the storied team ranks 9th in the constructors’ standings. With Sainz and the new regulations starting in 2026, the team hopes for a phoenix-like comeback. The new rules include a higher electric component in the hybrid drives and completely sustainable fuel. The start of the new power unit era could be an advantage for Williams. Alongside Sainz, veteran Alex Albon is expected to help the racing team score points. The 28-year-old Thai has been racing for the Brits since 2022. He already extended his contract in May.
