The Chief Election Commission has revoked the national party recognition of three parties, namely the National Vada Congress, the Trinamool Congress, and the EC. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has been granted national party status. The criteria for becoming a national party include securing at least 6 percent of the votes in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in four or more states, as well as winning 2 percent of the total Lok Sabha constituencies. Parties that meet these requirements are eligible for national party recognition.

If a party is granted national party status, it can contest elections in all states using a single symbol. The Election Commission’s decision was made because the aforementioned parties did not meet the qualifications required for national party status in recent elections.

On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Kejriwal, has been granted national party status. This party is currently in power in the states of Delhi and Punjab.
