/ The Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard threatened, on Wednesday, to send “Afghan suicide bombers” to Gaza to support the Palestinian factions in their war against Israel.

In an interview with the Iranian Afaq TV channel, a member of the Quds Force and Iran’s envoy to Afghanistan, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, said, “Afghanistan is part of the axis of resistance, and although it is far from Gaza, if necessary, more than one martyrdom army from this country will go to support Gaza.”

Iran’s use of Afghans in its proxy wars is not a new tactic. In 2016, Human Rights Watch reported that Iran was using Afghan refugees as soldiers in the Syrian war.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the formation of a force called the “Fatimiyoun Corps”, made up of Afghan refugees in Iran, and sent them to Syria to fight alongside the Syrian army.

Iran provided a sum of money for each Afghan fighter who spent a month in Syria, ranging from 500 to 800 US dollars per month, in addition to providing services including accommodation for the family and free education.

Last Monday, Iran announced the killing of 8 members of the Fatemiyoun Corps as a result of US raids on targets in the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor.
