Riccardo Fogli at the cinema in ‘Where was she at that hour’, 20 years later

Riccardo Fogli at the cinema with ‘Where she was at that hour’, a film by Antonio Maria Magro for which the transfer phase in High Definition has just ended in the Cinecittà plants, which at Christmas will be on the most important platforms, from Infinity Mediaset to Chili, from Amazon to Cecchi Gori and many others and will land on November 27 in the 75th edition of Salerno International Film Festival, out of competition since it was shot 20 years ago. And here the curtain opens of a story that intertwines this film with another, ‘Stories of Seduction’, also by the same director and also remained in the ‘dark’ for four decades due to the bankruptcy of the production company and now come to light thanks to a producer from Rome, Salvatore Alongi, who fell in love of the film and dumped it in High Definition in the Cinecittà factories involving Amazon where the film obtained a notable response last January, all the more significant since it is an author film.

Also for ‘Where was she at that time?’ it was the interest of Cinecittà Spa, which will also take care of the distribution operation, that made the difference, but for this latest film there is also more under the embers: the gossip events that concerned the director Antonio Maria Magro and Riccardo Fogli and who literally overturned the lives of both. The director’s wife, in fact, became pregnant with the singer during the production which led to a double divorce shortly thereafter. And at the birth of Riccardo Fogli’s first son, Alessandro. But sometimes positive exploits exceed all expectations. Despite the failure of the production company, despite Magro’s subsequent stance towards Italian cinema, of which he denounced the absurdities and corruption and in spite of the human unforeseen events mentioned above, the film managed, in fact, to make its way anyway. and also with the conviction of the director himself on the value of the protagonist Riccardo Fogli: “It had been years – said Magro – that such an intense and emotionally engaging interpretation was not seen on Italian screens. Riccardo has performed a real interpretative miracle”.
