Maestro al Massimo: “This is an Italian excellence, where extraordinary people work”
«I make an appeal for our theaters and for our musicians, who are the pride of our theater in the world but who now cry for many reasons. For example, who thinks now of the bands that are the pride of Southern Italy? I’m talking about girls and boys who are literally starving today ». This was stated by Maestro Riccardo Muti who spoke from the Teatro Massimo in Palermo at the work of the second day of the conference «South – Projects to restart».

«I speak from the Massimo theater in Palermo – added Maestro Muti – which is an Italian excellence, where extraordinary people work who at this moment are a bit sidelined, I’m here because we are preparing Verdi’s Requiem Mass. I’m talking about people who study in our conservatories and I remember that there are even regions where there is no orchestra or theater, and all this happens in Italy, the country of music ».

I am a son of the South, who was lucky enough to have great teachers and I want to invite those in duty to take a look at this country as it is.
