- There is not a single Bugatti on the road in our country anymore
- Porsche the most, among the favorite brands are also Bentley, Lamborghini and Ferrari
Bulgaria was in second place in the EU in terms of economic growth, which is driven by consumption. And if you look at the sales of real estate and expensive cars, Bulgarians really spend like a world class.
Just since the beginning of the year, wealthy citizens of our country have spent at least 65 million BGN on the purchase of brand new luxury cars. We are talking about brands such as Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche and others, where the price starts from BGN 350,000 and up. If the accepted as standard beemvets, Mercedes and Audis are added, then certainly
the amount for luxurious cars is doubled
There is a real Porsche boom in our country. In the last 12 months alone, the number of cars of the German brand has swelled by 1,200 units to reach a total of 7,152.
Of these, 249 brand new ones were registered in the first eight months of the year against 196 for the same period last year. It is impressive that of the entire number, 1,314 are under 5 years of age. Otherwise, the old diesel Cayennes are the most driven.
The new Cayenne models are also being snapped up like hot cakes and since the beginning of the year, 104 of them have been sold with an average price of over BGN 300,000.
However, Bulgaria was left without a single Bugatti on the road after the anti-corruption commission ostentatiously seized from the garage of businessman Rumen Gaitanski-Valka one of the first produced Veyron models with the cult registration number with six eights.
Gaitanski bought the fastest car in the world in 2006, and ten years later he put it on the used car sales sites for over 1 million euros with a serious mileage of 10,000 km for this type of vehicle. Apparently, there was never a buyer for this bugatti.
A few years ago, there was another copy of the cult brand in our country – the newer model Chiron, owned by Vanyo Alexiev. The transport boss, who waited more than a year and a half for the 3 million euro car, quickly got fed up, sold it and switched to a Lamborghini.
From the exotic sports brands
Lambo and its eternal rival Ferrari with Bulgarian registrations have 33 and 34 copies, respectively. It is interesting that since the beginning of the year, Bulgarians have bought 9 Lamborghinis and 11 Ferraris.
It turns out that there is already a Bulgarian who paid nearly BGN 1.5 million for the first Ferrari jeep registered here – the Purosangue model.
8 are the new models of the British company Bentley since the beginning of the year, and there are a total of 53 on domestic roads. Another English brand Aston Martin is in the hands of 14 local people, and 4 of them were bought brand new this year.
The eternal symbol of prestige – Rolls-Royce limousines, are owned by 21 Bulgarians, 6 of them were bought brand new in the first 7 months of the year, according to the traffic police report on vehicle registrations in our country.
Naturally, the cult of the Bulgarian to the legendary Golf and other Volkswagen models continues, but
the leadership of this brand in the last ones it’s years seriously threatened
especially in used vehicles, from Mercedes cars.
As of August 1, there are 349,174 Mercedes in Bulgaria, of which only 13,655 are up to 5 years old. 1,115 are the brand new Mercedes sold since the beginning of the year, including cargo vans and passenger vans. The Stuttgart-based company’s best-selling new model is the GLE SUV with 209 units, and the used leaders are the C and E classes.
The other German premium brand, BMW, performed similarly for cars up to 5 years old with 11,451 registrations, of which 1,117 were brand new sales in the seven months of the year. Otherwise, there are a total of 193,858 representatives of the Bavarian brand on our roads.
The best seller on the market of brand new when is also the most expensive
– the huge X7 crossover, of which 163 units were sold this year – three more than the other popular X5 jeep model.
The third German premium brand – Audi, is also one of the favorites of the Bulgarian driver. A total of 208,374 vehicles drive on Bulgarian roads. 5,636 of them are under 5 years old, and 461 are brand new ones bought this year.
A few days ago, it became clear that Bulgaria had the largest growth in new car sales among EU countries in the first half of the year.
In the January-June period, 23,047 sales of new vehicles were registered in our country, which represents a growth of 30.8% compared to the same period of 2023, according to the data of the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA). For June alone, sales increased by 8.4% to 4,410 vehicles.
Statistics show that the Bulgarians prefer gasoline cars
The new ones sold in 6 months were 16,450, which is a growth of 34.5% on an annual basis. Diesel car registrations increased by 23.1% to 5,012 units.
There is no change in electric cars – 871 were sold in the first half of the year, the same number as a year earlier. Plug-in hybrid registrations grew by 105.8% to 247 vehicles, and hybrids increased by 46.4% to 467 vehicles.
Bulgaria has also not been spared by the invasion of Chinese cars, which already have a market share of nearly 2% in our country.
