Followers of the Colombian National Team and all internet users have been captivated by the noble gesture shown by Richard Ríos and the Colombian Football Federation towards a girl who has cancer, allowing her to fulfill one of her dreams, thanks to the kind heart of the current Palmeiras midfielder.
Before the match against the Peruvian National Team, Richard Ríos was one of the first players to report to the national team’s concentration, which is why he decided, together with the Colombian Football Federation, to make the dream of a girl who traveled from Cartagena to spend a few minutes with her ‘hero’ come true.
Richard Ríos fulfilled the dream of a girl with cancer
Through the social media accounts of the Colombian Football Federation, the emotional meeting between Richard Ríos and Luciana, a girl from Cartagena diagnosed with cancer, was revealed. She traveled from the ‘Heroic’ city to ‘Arenosa’ just to spend a few minutes and take photos with Richard Ríos, Luciana’s idol.
“She has been undergoing treatment for a year and a half. She told me, take me to the hotel so I can see them, and that’s why we are here. She lives in Cartagena and is going through her treatment there; on Monday she had an appointment and her mom canceled it to give her a moment of happiness in the storm,” they stated in the video shared by the Federation on its social networks.
Luciana waited, shirt in hand, for the arrival of the 24-year-old from Antioquia, who showed up with the characteristic smile he is known for. There, Richard Ríos signed the shirt and took several photos with the girl, who could not believe her idol was just a few meters away.
“I told him I wanted to fulfill my dream of meeting him, and I did,” were Luciana’s words to Richard Ríos, who also received a special gift from the young girl, who gave him a painting during the team’s concentration.

Although some changes may occur, it seems that Richard Ríos will be in the starting eleven for the national team in the match against the Peruvian National Team, as it is no secret that the midfielder has become one of Néstor Lorenzo’s key players in the tricolor.
