November Events: Kicking Off the Cheer

The holiday season officially begins in Richmond with a series of enchanting events in November.

Dominion Energy Gardenfest of Lights: From November 17th through January 4th, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden transforms into a breathtaking spectacle with millions of twinkling lights, botanical decorations, and model trains.The event also features festive dinners and musical performances, including a performance of The nutcracker by the Concert Ballet of Virginia. Tredegar Tree Lighting: On Thursday, November 20th, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the American Civil War Museum will host its annual tree lighting ceremony. A 20-foot-tall tree in the museum lobby will be illuminated, accompanied by live music and holiday cheer. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.,with the lighting taking place at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Light Up the Tracks: Downtown Ashland in Hanover County will shine brightly from November 22nd through January 1st with a mile-long holiday light display illuminating the historic trackside district. The Downtown Ashland Association will also host a raffle for the Santa Train and a parade, adding to the festive atmosphere.The light display is free and accessible to all.

Sweater Weather Market: Agecroft Hall & Gardens will host an outdoor market on Sunday, November 23rd, from noon to 4 p.m., showcasing local artisans, food vendors, and seasonal treats. Christmas at the Inn Arts and crafts: From November 28th through December 2nd, the Virginia Cliffe Inn in Glen Allen will host a craft show featuring over 70 local crafters, artists, and bakers. CarMax Tacky Light Run: On Saturday, December 13th, the CarMax Tacky Light Run will take place at Midlothian Mines Park.
