Right-wing activists take revenge by blocking entrance to kibbutzim in protest against roadblocks

In a display of retaliation, right-wing activists blocked the entrance to several kibbutzim on Thursday evening, as a response to the extensive roadblocks set up by opponents of the reform as part of the ongoing “Days of Disruption”. The protest organizers have vowed to intensify their efforts in the coming weeks.

One of the activists, Yigal Malka from the Likud party, spoke with Aryeh Eldad and Roni Bar-On on 103FM about their actions at Kibbutz Yakum. Malka explained, “We are standing at the entrance to the kibbutz and other kibbutzim. We saw the protests of the left. We saw them blocking roads.”

A tweet from Liri Borek Shavit showed a picture of the complete blockage of Kibbutz Yakom, where several protestors reside.

Malka further justified their actions by claiming, “Gali Beharve-Miara explained to us that there is no effective protest without disturbing public order, so we are implementing the words of the legal advisor.” He added, “We are blocking roads according to the instructions of the legal adviser to the government, who says that it is allowed,” and emphasized, “We have heard Ami Ashad, commander of the Tel Aviv district, for six months, say that the police’s job is to guard the protesters and not the law-abiding ones. We got the message. It took us half a year to receive the message. The token fell, we understood.”

When asked about the reaction of the kibbutz residents, Malka acknowledged, “Some of them are very angry with us. I understand that, it is not pleasant to be done to you what you are used to doing to others.”
