In July 2020, shortly after the end of the first lockdown, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma stages the Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi to give a concrete signal to restart. The direction is entrusted to Damiano Michieletto (Daniele Gatti on the podium) who has to deal with the difficulties imposed by the protocols for the containment of Covid-19. To maintain the distance, a stage of 1,500 square meters is set up, transforming the Circus Maximus in Rome into a huge stage.
The short film now tells the story of the company, unique in Europe Rigoletto at the Circus Maximus, preview here. From tomorrow, World Theater Day, the short will be broadcast by Italian, the portal of the Farnesina for the promotion of the Italian language, culture and creativity in the world (it can be seen on the vimeo.com/italianaesteri).
Rigoletto at the Circus Maximus, directed by the Italian-American director Enrico Parenti and produced by Indigo Film with the collaboration of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, is one of the six original short films made in the context of Author’s Courts, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with Anica (National Association of Multimedia Audiovisual Film Industries) to promote a new narrative of Italy at the time of Covid.
