Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have officially entered round two of parenthood! The Grammy winner has given birth to her and the rapper’s second child, a baby boy, as reported by TMZ.
According to the outlet, the couple welcomed their little bundle of joy on August 3 in Los Angeles. While the newborn’s name is yet to be revealed, sources suggest that it starts with the letter “R,” just like his older brother, RZA.
Rihanna, 35, managed to keep her pregnancy under wraps until her stunning Super Bowl 2023 halftime show in February. The “Love on the Brain” singer surprised fans by cradling her growing baby bump in a red outfit, confirming the news of her second pregnancy.
Reflecting on her decision to perform while pregnant, Rihanna joked to British Vogue, “What the heck [was] I thinking?” She agreed to do the show shortly after giving birth to her first child, son RZA, in May 2022, and was “geeked out” by the challenge, feeling the sense of “nothing is impossible.”
Being a mother has given Rihanna a newfound respect for other working parents. She described the experience as a “headf–k” and emphasized the importance of taking on the role of being solely of service to her son. She called motherhood a “legendary” role, saying, “You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever. It doesn’t matter.”
While Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have shared glimpses of their first child’s face on social media and in a Vogue spread, they kept his name a secret until May. The singer hinted at the moniker for months by wearing clothes honoring producer and rapper RZA, the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, revealed in an interview with Page Six that the new parents had gone through “a few names” for their child. However, he playfully refused to share the monikers, joking, “She’ll have my head if I tell you!”
Before becoming parents, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were longtime friends who turned their relationship romantic in 2020. Their love story has evolved, and their family continues to grow with the arrival of their second child.
