The event brought together representatives from 37 Ministries

On the 28th and 29th of September, Rio de Janeiro receives the Federative Caravan
, an initiative of the Secretariat of Federative Affairs (SEAF), in partnership with the Secretariat of Institutional Relations (SRI) of the Presidency of the Republic. The event brings together representatives from 37 ministries so that managers, secretaries, mayors can increase their cities’ participation in government programs.

Mayor Eduardo Paes and Governor Cláudio Castro participated in the event this Thursday morning (28). On the first day alone, more than 2 thousand assistances were recorded. Rio de Janeiro is the second city to host the traveling action, the first took place in Salvador, Bahia, in August this year. According to SIR, the next destination is the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

The itinerant project proposes that federal government
leaves the esplanade of the ministries and approaches the federative units to encourage municipalities’ adherence to social programs such as Minha Casa Minha Vida, Bolsa Família, Mais Médicos, among others. According to the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, the most sought after Ministries were: Social Development (MDS), Culture (MinC), Justice and Public Security (MJSP)

Managers seek information about social projects

The deputy executive secretary of MDS, Ranniêr Ciríaco
said that the stand is sought after by people who want to find out about Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS), Specialized Social Assistance Reference Centers (Creas), and service and reception centers.

“The entire area of social assistance
runs through the MDS, which manages and takes care of all management of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS). Here we have the Bolsa Família programs, the Brasil sem Fome plan and the Single Registry”, explained the secretary.

Municipalities seek programs from the Ministry of Social Development

He states that the services of the Ministry of Social Development
One of the most sought after items in the Federative Caravan was co-financing from the SUAS network. Municipal representatives sought information about the policies, protection network and entry line of the Bolsa Família program. Ranniêr highlights the importance of bringing Ministries closer to municipalities.

“Brazil is a continental-sized country. Municipal managers, parliamentarians, councilors or mayors do not always have the facility to go to Brasilia
take your demands. An event like the Caravan presents all government programs in one place. It is possible to go around the stands, talk to each Ministries, understand the policies and bring more services to the population”, concludes the MDS representative.
