Riot in Tiberias: The Mossad took over ‘Beit Ya’akov’ and locked its gates

by time news

Parents and daughters at ‘Beit Ya’akov’ in Tiberias who arrived this morning for the start of the school year were amazed to see that the gate was locked and police officers had arrived to guard the place | According to the parents: the chain of the Torah education spring took over the place after they were allowed to use it With the help of representatives in the municipality, the 65-year allocation scandalously ended in favor of the new institution

This morning (Thursday) the female students of the ‘Beit Ya’akov’ school in the city encountered locked gates, an institution that hosted the school building decided to take it over with the help of officials from the municipality and police forces sent by the municipality acted very aggressively and according to the evidence even used violence. One of the parents was arrested and needed medical attention.

This is a building allocated for the benefit of the ‘Beit Ya’akov’ school institution, which was established about 65 years ago, by the rabbi of the city of Tiberias, Grad Auerbach zt’al. The institution, for a period of one and a half years until the renovation of the building of the source of Torah education, Rabbi Auerbach responded positively.

At the end of the period, Beit Ya’akov expected that the Mossad would vacate the classrooms, but at the Torah Education Spring they decided to sell the original property to another association, and asked Rabbi Auerbach to stay in the building for another period. Rabbi Auerbach granted their request and so they remained until last year Rabbi Auerbach passed away.

Since then, according to the testimonies of the parents and residents, a series of actions have been launched at the Torah educational spring aimed at taking over the building and throwing the old institution outside the walls of the building. First they worked with the Ministry of Education, which even sent a closure order to the old institution, even though the institution is not budgeted by it at all, and at the same time they worked with the Shas representative in the municipality to take the allocation from the old institution at the end of the allocation period.

Although the allocation period has not yet ended, this morning the members of the Torah Education Ministry locked the institution and even a large number of police officers were stationed there. The director of ‘Beit Ya’akov’ Rochama Fisher, who arrived at the scene was amazed to see the school locked and even presented the police with a municipal document proving her ownership of the building until the end of the allocation period, but she was rudely pushed away by the police.

As can be seen in the documents, one of the parents who was outraged by the brutal step and protested to the police officers for their illegal actions, was rudely arrested and then thrown for medical treatment.

One of the parents told ‘Bahadari’: “Let anyone who does kindness to others and hosts them in his home know that this is the price he will receive, in the end he will be thrown out of his home.” According to him, “This rudeness and insolence is reserved for the worst of the enemies of the Jewish people, surely it is the opposite of a Jewish symbol. How is it possible that Torah representatives who represent Torah observance and mitzvot are working here to rob a building of the oldest institution in the city?”

Another parent complained and says that this is not a sectarian war at all. “I am a Sephardic Jew whose daughter studies at Beit Ya’akov, and like the vast majority of parents, we will not remain silent, it is impossible for ultra-Orthodox representatives in the municipality to lend a hand in robbing the school building.”
