We interviewed sociologist Michel Wieviorka about the riots in France sparked by the death of a 17-year-old boy at the hands of a police officer. These first three nights have left thousands of vehicles on fire, with warehouses and public services destroyed. Some perceive it as an act of nihilistic violence, others as the result of years of social neglect.
