As correspondents from the scene noted, Parisians celebrating the victory of the left-wing coalition attacked the police, using firecrackers, smoke bombs and other objects. Videos published by the media also show protesters smashing bus stops, shop windows and cafes. The police, in turn, used tear gas and detained individual rioters.

According to Paris police, about 8,000 people took part in the demonstration on the Place de la République. How many of them took part in the riots is unknown.

The French publication Le Figaro also reports on one injured law enforcement officer in the French city of Nantes. According to the journalists, a bottle with a Molotov cocktail was thrown at him by those celebrating the victory of the left-wing coalition.
