Not only with beach chairs and food is ripped off at holiday locations, but also in emergencies! Doris Kraft (49) from Niedermurach (Bavaria) has seen how expensive it can get.
The single mother was on holiday in Turkey with her three children (14, 16, 17) in the beautiful seaside resort of Alanya. The businesswoman had saved for this family trip for five years.
“It was worth it, it was our first flight together and we had a wonderful time,” enthused the mother of three. On the last day, the drama: “On the day of my journey home, my autistic son, 17, fell ill. In the morning he was throwing up and had diarrhea.”

Medicines from the medicine chest didn’t help, mother and son went to the hotel’s own doctor. The son got an IV. Vitamins, salts, painkillers, and a blood count was taken. He actually recovered within the next three hours.

Doris: “Now I suddenly felt sick. I was forced to pull out my Visa card. I was not informed about the costs beforehand. But in the end it would have been of no use, since we finally needed help. I see that as a very special kind of rip-off.”
The Kraft family took out travel insurance with Ergo and immediately reported the claim, but have not yet received an answer. “Until the situation is clarified, I will have to struggle through financially. The Ergo website refers to long processing times.” The mother should have eight weeks of patience.
When asked by BILD, ERGO replied: “It’s our turn.”
