As part of preparations for the 2023 ODI World Cup, India are experimenting with a variety of things in their squad. But there are strong indications that India may try the ball in this role in this week’s T20 series, which was tested in the ODI opening. With Dhawan and injured superstar KL Rahul out of the T20 squad, the chances are high. However, Team India batting coach Vikram Rathore told reporters at a press conference here today that they have not taken any decision on the matter (opening the Rishabh ball). Rathore and KL Rahul are known to be unavailable but openers Ishant Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad are available for selection, he said.

Vikram Rathore also said that the ball is a very good player and a player who can move forward in the batting order. But he did not forget to mention that they are currently interested in playing him in the midfield and lower middle order.

“We have options. Rishabh is a very good player. He can come forward in the batting order and he can play well. But it depends on the needs of the team and what we want. I have no doubt he will be in the team after 2023.” Vikram Rathore said.

Meanwhile, the T20 series between India and the West Indies starts on the 16th of this month. The three-match series will be played entirely at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Apart from the 16th, the remaining matches of the series will be played on the 18th and 20th. Earlier, India had swept the ODI series 3-0 between the two teams. India won the first ODI by 6 wickets and the second ODI by 44 runs and won the third ODI by 96 runs. The ODI series was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
