Mumbai: IPL is returning to home-away format in the country after the covid break. As the Indian Premier League returns to the home-away format, the threat of Covid has arisen. Before the start of the 16th season of IPL, the number of covid cases is increasing in many parts of the country. In the last one week, there has been an increase in the number of Covid-positive people in the country.

IPL is characterized by packed gallery for every match. IPL’s return to overcrowded stadiums is a cause for concern. As the season returns to the home-away format, fans are eager to watch the match. Meanwhile, the number of covid cases is increasing in the country. But BCCI has advised the franchises to take necessary precautions even if there are no major concerns.

‘There is no major concern, but the covid guidelines of the Union Health Ministry and various states will be followed. Masks are still mandatory across the country, even if people don’t wear them. The players and support staff, franchise members and ground staff have been instructed to strictly adhere to the Covid norms. There is no need to panic. All have taken covid vaccine and booster dose. But as a precaution, the players should follow the Covid restrictions,’ BCCI sources told Inside Sport.

ICC has changed the covid norms but BCCI is not ready to change yet. Actors who test positive for Covid must go into isolation for seven days. Only three negative test results can join the team. BCCI has put in place restrictions on players interacting with fans even without the bio-bubble. If the players show symptoms of covid, the team medical team will monitor it closely.
