After the presidential election regime change, the fear that they may be punished for war crimes has risen among the officers of the Sri Lankan army.

Meanwhile, from the beginning of 2023 to 2024, about 8000 people, including 197 officers of the armed forces, have escaped from military service.

In March alone, 442 people have left the armed forces, including nine officers.

Also, 137 military officers are among those who have left the military service since January 1st.

Also 18 naval officers and 19 air force officers have left military service.

Although most of them are said to have left the army due to economic problems and administrative problems, the reason appears to be the lack of attitude among the rulers to protect the army.
