The singer was to animate the festivities of July 14 in Marcq-en-Barœul. But, since her controversial remarks on Emmanuel Macron, she would be, according to “La Voix du Nord” about to see her concert canceled.

Would blacklisting be in progress? Targeted by an investigation for “public provocation to commit a crime or an offense” after remarks imagining the lynching of Emmanuel Macron, the singer Izïa Higelin accumulates criticism and is about to see one of her next concerts canceled. While she was to be the star of the July 14 concert in Marcq-en-Barœul (Hauts-de-France), the artist, also an actress, would now be in the hot seat, reports The Voice of the North. The LR mayor of the city, Bernard Gérard, confided to the local newspaper: “The coming to Marcq-en-Barœul of this artist, for a public, free and family concert would be in contradiction with the values of gathering which prevail during our National Holiday”. An official announcement is expected to be made on Monday.

At the origin of the wrath of the elected official: the controversial outings of the singer about the President of the Republic. On stage Thursday July 6 on the occasion of the festival “Les Nuits guitares” in Beaulieu-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes), Izïa Higelin launched into a long tirade, imagining the public lynching of Emmanuel Macron. “I know him, what a naughty one, he said to himself there, which would be good, I think what the people want, what the people want, is that they hang on me at 20 meters from the ground like a giant human pinata, and that we are all here with huge bats with nails on the end like in Clockwork Orange [Orange mécanique, ndlr]“, began to tell the singer of 32 years. Before continuing while swaying in front of the public: “And there, we would bring him down […] and we would all have our bat with our little nails, and in a bengal fire of joy, of living flesh and blood, we would knock him down, but gently you see…”.

“It feels like a meeting of France Insoumise”

And, according to Nice Matin, the words may have amused some spectators, they also shocked others who warned the police. The gendarmes would have arrived at the end of the concert but would not have managed to get their hands on the artist. With the local newspaper, the LR mayor of Beaulieu-sur-Mer Roger Roux condemns: “I can’t believe it… It’s like a meeting of La France Insoumise. If she wants to joke, she just has to drop the song and become a comedian. There is such violence in his words, it’s nonsense. His assistant in charge of Culture Marie-José Lasry affirms that Izïa Higelin would now be “blacklisted” from the city.

Marcq-en-Barœul would therefore be the next city to banish the artist. “These remarks of great violence shocked me deeply, denounces Bernard Gérard to the Voix du Nord. Before adding: “They indignant all the Marcquois like all those who are attached to the values of the Republic”. Violette Spillebout, Macronist MP for the constituency, she poured out on Twitter : “This is not an artistic performance, but a call to murder”, she writes.

Among the flood of criticisms aroused, messages of support for Izïa Higelin however also slip on Twitter. “Sending the cops to Izïa Higelin’s concert is in itself completely delusional and very creepy,” notes a surfer. The deputy EELV Sandrine Rousseau for her part observes: “It’s funny that, there, nobody wants to separate the wife from the artist”.
