As the first foreign heads of government since the beginning of the war almost three weeks ago, the prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia have embarked on the risky journey to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, which is threatened by Russian troops. Petr Fiala and his counterparts from Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, and Slovenia, Janez Janša, wanted to “express the European Union’s unanimous support for Ukraine and its freedom and independence” and to present a “package of comprehensive support” for Ukraine and its people , as Fiala explained before the train journey, which was planned in the strictest secrecy.
