Rita and Idan Habib on stage: the Acre Festival opens its doors

The Acre Festival for Other Theater, which will be held during the coming week on the Sukkot holiday, between October 11-14, opened its doors last night (Monday) for the 43rd year with an opening event. The event was hosted by the mayor of Acre, Mr. Shimon Lankri and the festival’s executive director and chief producer, Mrs. Lizo Ohion.
During the event, the singer Rita appeared in an immersive performance, hosting the singer Idan Habib and together they sang the favorite songs “Machcha” and “I live from day to day”.

The evening was hosted by the TV presenter, Shlomo Straussman. Already on the first day of the festival, thousands of tickets were sold for the various shows and performances, and some of the competition shows were SOLD-OUT.

Shimon Lankri, Mayor of Acre: “Acre is a city with an extensive cultural history dating back hundreds of years, and its connection to culture remains easy and natural to this day, and is expressed in many cultural festivals held in the city with great success over the years. Of course, this connection, as natural as it may be, must be supported by the city We give generously, not only to the theater festival but also to many other cultural festivals and events.”

Lizo Ohion, Executive Director of the Acre Festival and Chief Producer: “It is a great privilege for me to open one of the most important events of the city of Acre and of the special creation of Israeli culture, an event as we all get to see today, which is a warm and loving melting pot for all the culture lovers who come Here from all over the country.”

The festival takes place in the Halls of the Knights, at the entrance to the old city and throughout the city, in the landscape of the city of Acre, and includes hundreds of actors and performers, who put on dozens of theater shows, street shows and new shows, of which eight premieres will take part in the festival competition, six incubator shows – which are an opportunity for promising directors and creators, eight “Tent” shows – shows on special “OFF-AKKO” platforms, as well as six guest shows and four international shows.
