The Olot artist Rita Martorell opens this Monday, December 4 at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels an exhibition with some of the portraits she has made of political leaders Spaniards such as Eduard Punset, Fernando Morán or Abel Matutes, who have been relevant in the European Union. Sample Rita Martorell, Portrait Artist of the Politicians of Yesterday and Today, it is part of the program of events of the Spanish presidency of the Council of the EU and it has been promoted by MEP Juan Fernando López Aguilar, president of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, with the support of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Brussels.
“Since the beginning of my artistic activity, the human body has been a constant source of inspiration. And I have dedicated an important part of my creation to the human face, because I understand that a person’s gaze can say a lot, I find it disturbing, I have always been captivated by the attitude of people, the way they speak.. .» Rita Martorell summarizes in this way where her interest in the human face is born, which in the last twenty-five years it has led him to paint dozens and dozens of portraits of peopleamong which there are such popular characters as Gunilla Von Bismarck, Baltasar Garzón, Dolores Delgado, Samuel Eto’o, Michel Houellebecq, Eduard Punset, Marta Ferrusola, Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida, Baltasar Porcel, Joaquim Nadal, Carles Gasòliba, Pere Macias, Sergi Belbel, Pau Riba, Sergi Mateu, Abel Matutes, Fernando Fernandez Tapias, Fernando Morán… A selection of his portraits of politicians will be exhibited in Brussels in the exhibition that opens this Monday.
