Title: Rivian Electric Delivery Vans from Amazon Make Their Way to Europe

Subtitle: Over 300 vehicles to hit the streets of Munich, Berlin, and Dusseldorf

Rivian’s highly anticipated electric delivery vans (EDVs), which are being used by Amazon, have officially made their debut in Europe. The first batch of Rivian EDVs will be deployed across Germany, with over 300 vehicles set to hit the streets of Munich, Berlin, and Dusseldorf in the coming weeks.

The partnership between Rivian and Amazon was established back in 2019, when the e-commerce giant made a substantial investment of $700 million in the young EV manufacturer. Months later, Amazon committed to purchasing more than 100,000 EDVs from Rivian. This initiative plays a crucial role in achieving Amazon’s Climate Pledge goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Rivian’s electric delivery vans were designed from scratch, with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and driver comfort. They made their first deliveries in the Los Angeles area in February 2021 and expanded to over 100 cities in the US, with over 1,000 EDVs delivering packages during the previous holiday season.

The European debut of Rivian’s EDVs marks a significant milestone for the company. These vans have been specifically adapted to better suit the urban environment in Europe, featuring a shorter and narrower design compared to their US counterparts.

Dagan Mishoulam, the Vice President of Strategy & Go To Market for Rivian, expressed his excitement about the launch in Germany, stating that the vehicles prioritize driver convenience, safety, and environmental impact. He also highlighted the positive feedback received from drivers in the US and emphasized the company’s excitement for future expansion in Europe.

The initial rollout of the 300 EDVs will take place in Germany, joining the thousands of electric vans already in operation across Europe. Germany alone currently boasts more than 1,000 Rivian electric delivery vans.

In the US, Amazon has already deployed more than 3,000 Rivian EDVs across 500 cities and regions. The company believes that reaching its goal of having 100,000 electric delivery vans globally will play a significant part in saving millions of metric tons of carbon emissions annually.

Meanwhile, Rivian’s performance in the US market has exceeded expectations. In the second quarter of 2023, they delivered 12,640 EVs and produced 13,992 units. This puts Rivian on track to meet its annual production goal of 50,000 units.

With Rivian’s successful expansion into Europe and their impressive production numbers, it is clear that the partnership with Amazon and their dedication to sustainable transportation is propelling them towards a bright and prosperous future in the EV industry.
