SOEST The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) wants to launch a special information campaign to encourage young people to adjust their behaviour. That is what Aura Timen of RIVM, also secretary of the Outbreak Management Team and head of the Center for National Coordination of Infectious Disease Control, says in the AD.

“We really have to focus on young people, choose an angle that appeals to them, so that they will adjust their behavior. Apparently our general message is less popular with them, our behavioral unit is now looking at how we can use a communication campaign for young people. is not on holiday, everyone should realize what the risks are.” Timen expects the campaign within a few weeks. “Our behavioral unit is now up and running, we should launch it in a few weeks I think, possibly sooner. This increase is really a wake-up call.”

Despite the increase in the number of infections, she does not yet want to speak of a second corona wave. “The huge numbers from last spring, with all those infected patients who can no longer be traced: we are not there now. But you don’t want to get there either. Everything is aimed at having the GGDs map out the sources and contacts. And once you’ve been tested, you shouldn’t just go out. That makes the detective work after a positive result a lot more difficult.”
