Students protest in Tejgaon
A group of students blocked the road under the banner of ‘Technical Students’ Movement’ in the Satrasta area of the capital’s Tejgaon industrial area to demand six points.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tejgaon Shilpanchal Police Station Gazi Shamimur Rahman said that the students blocked the road on Monday (September 9) afternoon.
The OC said traffic on both sides of the road has stopped due to the blockade. Attempts are being made to convince those who blocked the road and remove them from the road.
The road from Farmgate to Shahbagh via Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue has almost come to a standstill till the writing of this report (3 pm) due to road blockade.
The 6-point demand of the agitators is that all craft instructors appointed in the year 2021 should be removed from the Directorate of Technical Education and all institutions immediately. None other than Diploma Engineers can apply and Assistant Engineers and equivalent posts should be reserved for Diploma Engineers. Technical sector management cannot have any non-technical manpower. The controversial recruitment rules of the Directorate of Technical Education should be amended. Diploma in Engineering students in higher education Opportunities should be increased.
