The second stage of the Vuelta 2024 will take place in the cities of Caldas da Rainha and Alcobaça, which will necessitate the closure of some roads this Sunday, the 18th.
According to a statement from the District Command of the PSP of Leiria, between 1:30 PM and 3:15 PM, the national road 8, General Amílcar Mota Street, Vitorino Fróis Street, Adelino Mamede de Oliveira Avenue, Viaduct Avenue, Eng. Marcelo Morgado Avenue, Professor Abílio Moniz Barreto Street, Dr. Artur Figueiroa Rego Avenue, and Estrada do Lavradio Street will be impassable in Caldas da Rainha.
In the municipality of Alcobaça, between 2 PM and 3:30 PM, circulation will not be allowed on the Via de Cintura Interna, Costa Veiga Street, Avenida dos Combatentes, Leiria Street, and EN 8.
The PSP also mentions that besides the closure of these arteries for the passage of athletes, including João Almeida, a native of Caldas da Rainha, there may also be some constraints in the peripheral streets.
The 79th edition of the Vuelta a España cycling race will take place from today until September 8, covering a total of 3,265 kilometers, from Lisbon to Madrid. The second stage will connect Cascais to Ourém, over a distance of 194 kilometers.
The arrival in Ourém is expected from 4 PM onwards, on Dr. Armando Henrique Reis Vieira Street, next to the health center. Traffic will be forbidden from 7 PM today on Dr. António Justiniano da Luz Preto and Dr. Armando Henrique Reis Vieira streets.
Starting tomorrow, Álamos Street, Praça do Município, and the respective section will also be impassable.
On August 18, the Municipality of Ourém will provide four parking areas at various entrances to the city of Ourém to facilitate access for spectators to the finish of La Vuelta.
Lot No. 1 (transfer): North, at the Municipal Yard and adjacent land;
Lot No. 2 (transfer): East, at the S. Miguel Gardens;
Lot No. 3: South, at the Municipal Market and City Park;
Lot No. 4: West, at Campo da Caridade (Adelino dos Santos Júnior).
Lots No. 1 and 2 offer a free transfer service, between 2 PM and 8 PM, to and from the area near the race finish.
