A breathtaking finale. By seven small seconds, France was beaten for Switzerland in the mixed time trial relay of the World Road Championships in Glasgow on Tuesday.

Switzerland thus retains its title of world champion in the mixed time trial relay won last year in Australia with only seven seconds over France and 51 over Germany. The Helvetians had lined up exactly the same team as during their first coronation with Nicole Koller, Marlen Reusser, Elise Chabbey, Stefan Bissegger, Stefan Küng and Mauro Schmid. A great performance for the Swiss, despite a fall from Reusser along the way.

France which, unlike other nations, had lined up its best assets (Juliette Labous, Audrey Cordon Ragot, Cedrine Kerbaol, Rémi Cavagna, Bruno Armirail, Bryan Coquard) led until the arrival of Switzerland, last to set off.

On the program for the fourth time at the Worlds, the event brings together three men and three women per team.

The men completed the first part of the 40.3 km course together in Glasgow, before being relayed by the three women.

Eighteen nations were at the start with the notable absence of Belgium which did not line up in this event which has only existed at the World Championships since 2019.
