DIG/ THE government represented by the Minister of Public Works, Toussaint Nkouma Émane, and the banking group BGFIBank sealed, on Friday June 23, 2023, a financing partnership for the benefit of road maintenance.

The two parties have agreed on a loan to the State in the amount of 60 billion FCFA, not only to relaunch the road works at a standstill, but also to start new ones.

The financing agreement was recorded during a working session led by Minister Nkouma Émane, with the owners of the companies awarded the said contracts, representatives of BGFIBank and those of the administration in charge of public finances.

In concrete terms, this support will make it possible to finance more than 2,000 km of dirt roads in the interior of the country, but also to relaunch certain sites stopped for lack of money.

It should be noted that this envelope of the BGFI comes on top of the 51 billion made available by Ali Bongo via the National Autonomous Road Maintenance Fund (FANER) which allows the paving of urban roads and some works on which have already begun.

Several linear are concerned by this program. Mention will be made, among others, the Ndende-Tchibanga, Moanda-Bakumba and Koumameyong-Booué sections.

The State financial services ensure that “the resources necessary for the payment of the works in question are available in the accounts of BGFIBank and secured by the administrations of the Debt, the Treasury and the Budget”.

Also, the disbursement mechanisms for these funds have already been defined by the ministers in charge of the Budget and the Economy, so that the government can make available and on time the amounts that would have been validated by the master of finance. ‘work.
