Traffic accidents⁢ have slightly increased in El Salvador, prompting the Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT) and National Civil Police (PNC) to implement additional vehicle and anti-doping controls nationwide.

“We are seeing a slight increase in traffic accidents, which is⁣ why we are urging the public to drive cautiously and defensively, in accordance with traffic regulations,” said Traffic Director Félix Serrano.

Checkpoints have ​been set up on the⁢ Pan-American Highway in the ​La Ceiba de ​Guadalupe‌ sector, in Antiguo Cuscatlán, ​on the Santa Tecla to San Salvador and vice versa routes.

During checks⁢ in the La Ceiba de Guadalupe sector, a driver ⁤was stopped and found to have 132 milligrams per deciliter of alcohol in their breath. Their license plates were confiscated, and a fine was issued.
