Robert Downey Jr. is set to return to Marvel with a new character
The actor will be part of two new films in the “Avengers” saga. The last time he participated in this universe was in 2019.

When it premiered in 2019, “Avengers: Endgame” set the record for the most-watched film ever in 24 hours in our country. Globally, it also broke records. One of the most striking moments of this narrative is the death of Iron Man, the superhero played by billionaire Tony Stark, portrayed by actor Robert Downey Jr..
Following the success of the character, the 59-year-old actor is preparing to return to the Marvel universe, but this time he will take on a new role: the villain Doctor Doom, the alter ego of Victor Von Doom. The news was announced during a Disney presentation this Saturday, July 27, at Comic Con in San Diego, USA.
So far, Downey Jr.’s participation in two films of the “Avengers” saga has been confirmed, titled “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”. The release dates for the fifth and sixth films of the saga have not yet been disclosed, nor have the details about the narratives been revealed.
“There is one character that is extremely important and essential to honor ‘Secret Wars’. It could be the most relevant character in the entire Marvel universe,” emphasized filmmaker Joe Russo during the panel, before surprising those present with the actor’s entrance on stage. Robert Downey Jr. made his appearance anonymously, blending in with a group of masked figures.
It is worth mentioning that the actor had announced his retirement from Marvel films in 2019 to dedicate himself to other projects, one of which was the acclaimed “Oppenheimer” by Christopher Nolan, which earned him the first Oscar of his career in the Best Supporting Actor category.
