The awards ceremony for the best performers in international football in 2021 took place last night in Switzerland.
The World Player of the Year award went to Robert Lewandowski, a Polish player who plays for Bayern Munich. Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt) were sidelined for the second time in a row.
Lewandowski, 33, scored 41 goals for Bayern Munich in the 2020-21 season of the popular Bundesliga football series in Germany. Alexia Budellos (Spain), captain of the Barcelona club, won the Best Footballer award.
