Anyone who was online on Wednesday occasionally came across an allegedly positive doping test for Robert Lewandowski. But it turned out to be a fake.
Robert Lewandowski has apparently become a victim of fake news. On Wednesday, an X-account claimed to have obtained sensitive data from a leak on the Polish anti-doping agency Polada. This included information about positive doping tests of several athletes.
The account claimed that Robert Lewandowski tested positive for anabolic steroids during a Bundesliga match for FC Bayern in March 2022. This report turned out to be false on the same day.
The Polish anti-doping agency Polada confirmed a cyberattack but denied the result. “Fake news has appeared in the public space that is intended to discredit Polish athletes,” Polada said in a statement. “The results presented do not correspond to reality. Neither the data nor the tests nor their outcome.”
It is not known who is behind the cyber attack. The posts on platform X have since been deleted.
