Man serving life sentence for sexual abuse of a child escapes from prison in Texas

Authorities in Texas are on the lookout for a 39-year-old man who escaped from prison on Sunday afternoon. Robert Yancy Jr. was last seen at the Clemens Unit in Brazoria, Texas, at around 3:38 p.m. local time, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Yancy, who was last seen wearing a black beanie and a black sweater, escaped in a white 2021 Nissan Versa with license plate DNR9145. Authorities have urged the public to call law enforcement if they spot Yancy and not approach him.

Yancy was serving a life sentence without parole for continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to inmate records.

In a twist of events, Yancy’s mother, Lenor Priestle, was arrested later on Sunday night on a felony warrant during a traffic stop at around 8:25 p.m. local time. Reports from the Victoria police stated that Priestle was driving the same white Nissan Versa that her son had escaped in.

Authorities are continuing their search for Yancy and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding his escape. Anyone with information about Yancy’s whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement.
