Robin Gosens has made an impressive return to Serie A. The international player was immediately successful in his new club’s draw against Monza.

Just two days after his lightning transfer to AC Florence, Robin Gosens made a dream debut. The German international, who was sold to the Italian club by Union Berlin just hours before the end of the transfer window, was in the starting eleven in Sunday evening’s home match against AC Monza and scored the equalizer to make it 2-2 (1-2) in injury time.

Gosens moved from Inter Milan to Berlin last year for 13 million euros, but was rarely convincing in the season that almost resulted in relegation and missed the European Championships at home. There was long speculation about a move this summer, but recently it was assumed that he would stay. Then, shortly before the home game against FC St. Pauli on Friday (1:0), he finally left.

Fiorentina fell behind 2-0 early on in the third matchday of Serie A thanks to goals from Milan Đurić (18th) and Daniel Maldini (32nd). Moise Kean, a new signing like Gosens, reduced the deficit shortly before half-time (45th). Gosens played through and saved the point late on (90th+6). Florence, the 30-year-old’s third Italian stop after Atalanta Bergamo and Inter, is still waiting for its first win of the season.
