Beijing has become the launch site for a new generation Xiaomi smartphone manufacturing plant. This was reported by GizmoChina, citing the words of the company’s CEO Lei Jun, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
The new plant, located on an area of 81 thousand square meters, completely excludes human participation, as all operations are performed by robots. All equipment in production is capable of interacting with each other in an autonomous mode and maintaining crystal cleanliness, removing dust even at the micro level. Intelligent systems control the quality of manufactured products.
Lei Jun called the opening of the “smart” factory a small step for Xiaomi in exploring the future. The production process is set up to assemble one smartphone every second. The new factory’s annual output is at least 10 million smartphones.
Xiaomi invested 2.4 billion yuan to develop a new manufacturing process. The newly opened factory in Beijing has been certified as a “national benchmark enterprise for intelligent manufacturing.” The new factory will produce the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 and Xiaomi MIX Flip phones.
Xiaomi already has experience using automation in its production process. In 2019, Xiaomi’s smart factory in Beijing was completed and ready for production. The production of the foldable Xiaomi MIX Fold was launched there.
