The Royal Spanish Football Federation has officially announced that it “has provisionally awarded the video arbitration assistance service (VAR) to Grup Mediapro, SLU. Likewise, the RFEF has provisionally awarded the semi-automatic offside detection (SAOT) technology to Hawk-Eye Innovation. “Both concessions are for the next four seasons, from 2024/25 to 2027/28.”
Rocha lifts the veto on the Roures group
With this decision the RFEFwith Pedro Rocha in charge of the manager, lifts the veto that Luis Rubiales had imposed on Mediapro and that had pitted the former president of the Federation against the group that Jaume Roures had chaired until a few months ago. It also happens that in recent months there have been rulings in favor of Mediapro in the disputes it had open with the Spanish Football Federation.
As El Periódico de España, from the Prensa Ibérica group, announced last September, the justice agreed with the company Mediapro ycHe condemned the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), then under the presidency of Luis Rubiales, to pay Jaume Roures’ company a total of 14.4 million euros, as specified in two sentences.

In the first resolutionon July 5, the Provincial Court of Madrid obliges the RFEF to pay “a maximum of 12.3 million” to Mediapro for exclude this Catalan company from a contract for the tender for the commercialization of the audiovisual rights of the Copa del Rey in the 19/20, 20/21 and 21/22 seasons.
The second sentence against the federation was handed down last May by Commercial Court number 3 of Madrid. The magistrate ordered the RFEF to pay Roures 2.1 million euros for alleged irregularities committed in the contest called in May 2019 to award the League’s Video Assistance Refereeing Service (VAR).
