The 2024 edition of the Rock en Seine Festival is full of promises. At the heart of the Paris Paralympic Games, it opens in a unique way with American singer Lana Del Rey, and continues with an eclectic lineup.

Bonnie Banane, a singer-songwriter behind the album Nini (2024), will mix electro pop, punk, and even soul on Friday, August 23, at the Bosquet Stage of the Rock en Seine Festival. The event also hosts the Belgian rock band Ghinzu, who, after a ten-year break, celebrates the 20th anniversary of their album “Blow” on the Festival’s Grand Stage and announces the release of a new album in 2025.

“Nini” by Bonnie Banane

An actress in a previous life, Bonnie Banane shifted to music. “It’s the fact of doing a lot of theater that pushed me to do something else. Music at that moment was a form of freedom I granted myself” confides Bonnie Banane. Singing her compositions also represented a way to maneuver out of the obligation, as an actress, to perform others’ texts.

In “Nini,” Bonnie Banane conveys a desire to “destroy everything,” a particular energy that permeates the album.

The stage, a laboratory for Ghinzu’s rock

Even though Blow was created about twenty years ago, the pieces that Ghinzu plays in 2024 have a fresh sound: “we never play the exact same thing“. Furthermore, the new album, announced by the band’s leader John Stargasm, has taken its time and draws inspiration from this “storm” of the summer scene.
