The Israeli army continues to bomb targets in Lebanon. Hezbollah, in turn, fires rockets into northern Israel. Israel doesn’t catch everyone.

Several people were injured in a Hezbollah rocket attack on Israel’s third largest city, Haifa. This was announced by the Israeli police. Hezbollah says it attacked a military base south of Haifa with Fadi 1 rockets. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a video on its official X account showing piles of rubble on a street in the port city.

According to media reports, two rockets hit Haifa despite defensive fire. The police reported damage to buildings. According to the US news channel CNN, the Rambam Hospital in Haifa reported that six people were treated, including for injuries from shrapnel. Two other injured people were treated at the scene, the local emergency service said: a 13-year-old boy with a head injury caused by shrapnel and a 22-year-old man who was injured when a window fell from its anchorage. According to the Times of Israel, at least one person was also injured in the city of Tiberias.

The Israeli army responded with air strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut. Hezbollah targets are also being attacked in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. Hezbollah’s “terrorist targets” and weapons storage facilities were hit, according to a statement published on Monday night. Israeli warplanes hit targets belonging to the Hezbollah intelligence headquarters in Beirut, the military said. Explosions after the attacks in the capital area also indicated the “presence of weapons”.

An Israeli army spokesman had previously issued a warning to residents of the southern Beirut suburbs of Burj al-Barajne and Hadath, urging them to leave the areas.

The official Lebanese news agency NNA reported a total of four attacks in the south of Beirut. “Enemy warplanes have carried out two attacks on the southern suburbs, the first on the Sainte-Thérèse area and the second on the Burj al-Barajne area,” it said. NNA later reported two more attacks, including a “fierce” one on the suburb of Hadath.

For almost two weeks, the Israeli army has been taking massive action against Hezbollah, which is allied with Hamas, in Lebanon. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and other high-ranking militia commanders were killed in targeted air strikes. Iran-backed Hezbollah opened a second front against Israel shortly after October 7 with increased and continuous airstrikes and has stepped up attacks in recent weeks.
