Rod Stewart Announces 2027 Arena Tour as His Final One

Sir Rod Stewart announced that his 2027 arena tour, titled The Final Encore, will be his final time touring after a career spanning more than six decades. The 81-year-old singer-songwriter confirmed the UK and European dates following recent health cancellations, though he hasn’t ruled out one-off gigs in the future.

After more than sixty years on the road—having started touring since his teens in the early 1960s when he set out across Europe with a harmonica—the legendary rocker is officially bringing his live touring career to a close. The trek kicks off at Dublin’s 3Arena on April 23, before heading into arena dates across the UK and continental Europe.

The announcement arrives after a turbulent period of health hurdles for the veteran performer. Earlier on his previous US outing, the singer was forced to pause a concert in Utah to use an oxygen mask after nearly fainting on stage, playfully asking the crowd, Would you mind if I sat down for this one? He later cancelled the remainder of that North American run after undergoing a routine coronary stent procedure. Throughout 2025 on the One Last Time trek, he faced cancellations brought on by strep throat, Covid, and the flu, alongside necessary vocal rest, though he still powered through to perform his Pyramid Stage “legends slot” at Glastonbury.

The Final Encore Tour Stops and Ticket Sales

The upcoming arena run takes in major stops across the UK and Ireland, including Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Manchester, before wrapping up the initial domestic leg at The O2 in London on May 11. Support on the UK and Ireland leg will come from Howard Jones. From there, the routing moves across Europe through Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Budapest, Munich, Prague, and Kraków, before concluding in Hanover, Germany, in July.

Fans looking to secure entry can access a ‘Fanclub’ pre-sale going live on Tuesday, September 29, followed by local pre-sales. Remaining tickets go on general sale at 10am BST on Friday, October 2.

“My dear friends, the time has come to say farewell to life on the road. After more than six decades, ‘The Final Encore’ will most definitely be my last. I’ve been singing the music I love since I was 19 years old, and I’ve had the privilege of taking it around the world to all of you. It has given me a life beyond anything I could ever have imagined, and I hope I’ve given you some fond memories in return. So, may I take this opportunity to thank you for making this extraordinary life possible. I hope you’ll join me so I can thank you the best way I know how… with the music and one hell of a show. See you there.”

Six Decades of Music and Studio Plans

Stewart has maintained a relentless presence in music since his teens. His musical journey included an acoustic duo with folk performer Wizz Jones—which concluded when Spain deported him on vagrancy charges—followed by stints rotating through outfits like Steampacket, Jimmy Powell & the Five Dimensions, and Shotgun Express prior to his time in the Jeff Beck Group and subsequently Faces. His transition into a solo artist truly took off near the end of the 1960s, establishing him as a massive commercial force: beginning with 1971’s chart-topping Every Picture Tells a Story, every single one of his 29 studio albums except for one has broken into the UK Top 10, most recently illustrated by his 2024 No 1 collaboration with Jools Holland titled Swing Fever.

Even as life on the road winds down, retirement from the studio is off the table. Stewart told Desert Island Discs that he and former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood have songs that we’re working on from back in the day, but it’s hard to make our times tally. When we do get a chance to get in the studio again, we will finish off these songs. We’ve got a good body of songs going.
