Rodri Faces Long-Term Injury Setback as Manchester City Star Travels to Spain for Assessment

In a statement, the English club explains that Rodri, one of the candidates for the Ballon d’Or, “suffered a ligament injury to his right knee” during Sunday’s match against Arsenal (2-2), adding that the player traveled to Spain to be examined by other doctors.

“The assessment is ongoing to determine the full extent of the injury,” states the four-time English football champion, without giving a projected downtime, which, according to the Spanish press, could last until the end of the season.

On Tuesday, after the game against Watford in the English League Cup, the City manager admitted that the player could be out for a long time.

“We don’t know the definitive diagnosis, but he could be out for a long time,” said Pep Guardiola, considering that Rodri “is irreplaceable” and that his injury is “a problem” for which a solution needs to be found.
