Russia may transfer to the Kuru cosmodrome part of the missile launches within the framework of the federal space program, said Dmitry Rogozin, general director of Roscosmos, whose words were reported by RIA Novosti.

“We, most likely, will load this launch complex, including with our federal launches. We have an interest. This is a unique point on the equator, convenient for launching payloads, ”he said at a briefing.

Kourou Cosmodrome is located in French Guiana. Previously, it was used to launch Russian carrier rockets of the Soyuz-2 family. The head of Roscosmos stressed that to ensure the profitability of the Soyuz missiles, two or three launches a year are required.

In addition, according to Rogozin, American astronauts will continue to fly on Russian Soyuz spacecraft.

“Today with NASA we discussed the possibility of cross-flights, that is, when our astronauts will fly on American ships. We have started discussing the composition of these crews from today. And the Americans will continue to fly the Soyuz, the ship they love, they know. It is considered the most reliable ship in the world, ”he said.
