Rogozin explained the transition of “Soyuz” to manual control when docked with the ISS

by time news

Dmitry Rogozin, the general director of Roscosmos, said that the reason for the transfer of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft with a film crew on board to manual control when docked with the ISS was the unwillingness to take risks. He noted that there is “nothing special” about this.

“Passive at the station, receiving antenna. There are two semi-sets in liabilities, two semi-sets in assets. The asset is on the ship, the liability is on the station. So they began to malfunction, began to blink among themselves, decided not to risk it and switch to manual control, nothing special, ”he said (quoted by RIA Novosti).

Today Soyuz MS-19 with a film crew consisting of actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko, as well as cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, docked to the ISS in manual mode due to the failure of two sets of equipment of the Kurs automatic rendezvous system.

The crew will be filming scenes from the feature film “Challenge” in orbit. A full-length film is being shot on the ISS for the first time.
