Rohit Sharma praises Sanju; Indications are that he will be with the World Cup team
Before the first match of the series against Sri Lanka, Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised Sanju. Rohit says that Sanju’s skills are immense and he is very happy to see his innings in the IPL.
He was speaking at a press conference ahead of the series against Sri Lanka.
‘His abilities are immense. Everyone is very happy to see his innings in the IPL. He has enough ability to win and win. That is the important thing. Many players like Sanju have talent and skills, it depends on how they use it, ‘says Rohit.
Rohit has hinted that if he performs well in the series, he will be included in the T20 World Cup squad.
Rohit believes that Sanju’s play on the back foot and skill in shot making will help India a lot on Australian soil.
‘Everything is still in Sanju’s hands. It remains to be seen how he will harness his potential. Because the team and the management have high hopes for him.
Whenever we get a chance on the team, we give him the support he needs. He is still under consideration. That’s why he’s part of the team now.
The playfulness on his backfoot is impressive. His shot making skills are also immense. India need someone to play that shot when they go to Australia. Sanju has that ability. I think he will use it properly, ‘says Rohit Sharma.
The series against Sri Lanka will consist of Tests, ODIs and T20I matches. The first match of the T20 series is on Thursday. The second match will be played on February 26 and the third match of the series will be played the next day.
India enter the series confident of whitewashing the T20 kings, the Windies, 3-0.
