The elected mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra Rojo de la Vegachallenged the second total recount of votes ordered by the Electoral Court of Mexico City (TECDMX) for the demarcation.

The appeal was filed by the legal team of the elected mayor before the Regional Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF), hours before the deadline.

In this regard, Rojo de la Vega pointed out that the determination of the TECDMX It is based on guaranteeing the certainty of the election results, without having concrete elements to explain the assumptions that cast doubt on the results.

He accused the local magistrates of failing to point out the anomalies that led them to determine that the certainty of the results must be given with a new count.

“The grounds and motives of the previous agreement have not changed at all, basically because there is no legal precept that supports the illegal recount,” he said.

Finally, Rojo de la Vega expressed his confidence that the magistrates of the Regional Chamber act in accordance with the law, by insisting that the new TECDMX resolution lacks support.
