Iga Swiatek had to fight hard to win a third time on clay at Roland Garros on Saturday June 10. The Pole scared herself before winning against the Czech Karolina Muchova, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. As usual, the world number 1 was gone with a bang. At one set zero, three zero, nothing seemed to stand in the way of a new victory. But the machine jammed. Returning to her match, Muchova won the second set and looked good in the third, delivering a series of blows worthy of her idol Roger Federer.

Crossed destinies
The 22-year-old Polish, already a winner in Paris in 2020 and 2022, thus won her fourth Grand Slam title, also with the US Open 2022. Muchova played her first final in a major tournament at the age of 26. The two players had faced each other only once in competition four years ago. During this unique confrontation, in 2019 in Prague, it was Muchova who won in three sets. Since then, the latter has suffered a series of injuries while Swiatek is now an undisputed world number one.
