The player, stopped in the premises of the Central Racing and Games Service (SCCJ) of the judicial police, was also subjected to searches in his hotel room.

Sizikova, 101st in the world in the double, is at the center of an investigation opened last October by the Paris prosecutor for “fraud between organized gangs” and for “active and passive sports corruption“, as the German newspaper reveals ‘The world’. To get her in trouble would be the women’s doubles first round match she played last year at Porte d’Auteuil with the American Madison Brengle against the Romanians Andreea Mitu and Patricia Maria.

The latter, favorites, had imposed themselves as predicted for 7-6 6-4, but the suspicions concerned the fifth game of the second set. Several tens of thousands of euros had in fact been bets with different operators and in several countries on the victory of this game by the Romanians, who would have been ‘helped’ in the offending game ‘by the Russian, capable of committing two double fouls and missing a point. Sizikova is not exactly a big player on the circuit. Currently classified 765 to the world in singles – his best placement dates back to 2016, 336th – he is mainly present in the doubles circuit, where he won the only title of his career in 2019 in Lausanne with the compatriot Anastasia Potapova and is in 101st place in the specialty ranking. His career earnings, according to the WTA, are around 170,000 euros.
