We will no longer see Rafael Nadal on the court in Paris, it’s now official. If his absence at this week’s Rolex Paris Masters was not at all in doubt, a month before his withdrawal after the Davis Cup final, this has just been confirmed by the distribution of invitations by the organisers. The Majorcan is not included in the list, unlike four Frenchmen: Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, Adrian Mannarino and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
“It’s true that for him coming to Paris to play was a real option, a logical one given that the Davis Cup will be his last stage, but no, he didn’t make any request,” Cédric Pioline confirmed to Eurosport. The Toro di Manacor will therefore not play a final phase in the capital.
Last for Gasquet, first for Mpetshi Perricard
Another future retiree, Richard Gasquet will participate in his last Masters 1000 in Paris thanks to this wild card. In the French contingent, he will be accompanied by Ugo Humbert and Arthur Fils, who directly enters the final draw, but also by Gaël Monfils, Adrian Mannarino and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the last three guests. Of note is the first participation for the 2.03 m giant, 50th in the world.
As for the qualifiers, Hugo Gaston, Alexandre Müller, Quentin Halys and Arthur Cazaux are invited and will try to access the final draw just like Arthur Rinderknech and Corentin Moutet. Keep in mind that these eight wild cards dealt in total are intended to change owners. In the game of injuries and retirements, players like Gaël Monfils could make it and will not need the leniency of the organizers.
