Roma 1-2: ‘Two out of two’ with De Rossi and the scent of a quadruple for the Romans

by time news

Roma did their duty at the home of the trailing Charletitana by winning 2-1 in “Areki” and took an important step towards the Champions League, getting one point closer to 4th Atalanta.

The post-Mourinho era, or if you prefer the Daniele De Rossi era, has started positively for Roma. After the 2-1 win over Verona in the “Olimpico” with which he combined his debut on the bench, the former vice-captain (alongside captain Francesco Totti) of the team from the Italian capital also celebrated his first away success, with the Romans to win 2-1 against the trailing Salernitana in “Areki”, in the last scheduled match of the 22nd matchday of Serie A.

The first half provided little excitement for the crowd, with Roma having 74% of the ball but being hopelessly chatty with just 2 finals in that span and none at home, with Simone Inzaghi’s side in contrast showing a better image in grass, with 9 finals of which 3 at home (0.43-0.08 xgoals).

That all changed minutes into the second half when the visitors won a penalty and Dybala converted in the 51st minute, with captain Pellegrini putting her in the driver’s seat to make it 2-0 in the 66th minute (he made it 3 goal at that particular stadium at Serie A level) and the only reaction from Salernitana being the goal of their Cypriot midfielder, Grigoris Kastanou, with a header in the 70th minute.

With this victory, the second in a row in the league, Roma climbed to 5th place and now only one point separates them from the privileged 4th place that leads to the new Champions League, with the team from Salerno knowing from their side a fourth consecutive defeat in the league and remain stuck at the bottom of the standings and at -6 from the safety line.
